The organisation’s key focus areas include Gender Equity, Sustainable Agriculture, Entrepreneurship Development, Natural Resource Management, and Drinking Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene.

Client Background and Challenge

Utthan encountered challenges in effectively showcasing its impact and streamlining operations, hindering visibility, resource mobilisation, and efficiency.

Key Challenges

Utthan had established four women’s collectives or federations to empower communities and foster social transformation. While these collectives achieved significant grassroots impact, they faced a major challenge due to the lack of dedicated websites. This absence of an online presence limited their ability to showcase their achievements effectively, resulting in reduced visibility and difficulties in mobilising resources or engaging with donors and partners.
Additionally, Utthan struggled with operational inadequacies because it lacked a centralised Human Resource Management System (HRMS). Retrieving data from multiple sources was time-consuming, and the validation process further delayed operations. These challenges highlighted the need for improved systems to enhance visibility, streamline operations, and strengthen resource mobilisation efforts for both the collectives and the organisation.

makeMybiz Approach and Solution

The makeMybiz team conducted multiple meetings with Utthan to identify needs, gaps, and specific requirements. Collaborative discussions led to practical, co-created solutions tailored to address challenges effectively and ensure implementation feasibility.

Business and Community Impact

  • The launch of the new websites for women’s federations and Human Resource Management System (HRMS) has significantly enhanced Utthan's operations. The websites allow for more efficient content management, enabling seamless publication and real-time updates of program materials. With SEO optimization, the websites have improved visibility, making it easier for stakeholders to access resources, stay informed about the grassroots interventions, and get in touch with our organization. The user-friendly design of the sites has boosted community engagement by offering a central hub for accessing critical information and updates. This has helped in building stronger connections with the stakeholders we serve, partners, and donors, while also showcasing the impact of initiatives.
  • Simultaneously, the implementation of HRMS has streamlined workforce management at Utthan. The system now simplifies tracking staff performance, attendance, and other HR functions, reducing administrative workload and improving operational efficiency. HRMS also facilitates the identification of training and development needs, aligning with our goal of fostering continuous capacity-building. Moreover, it supports better internal communication, ensuring that staff members remain well-informed about organizational updates. The HRMS has also enhanced data security and ensured compliance with relevant laws, safeguarding sensitive employee information and reducing the risk of legal complications. Together, the websites and HRMS have strengthened both the internal management and external outreach of Utthan’s work.
